After the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina to the VA Medical Center in Gulfport, MS August 2005 the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System accelerated its consolidation plans to relocate its operations at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi, MS. Project Acorn encompasses $350,000,000 in federal funding to add new facilities, rehabilitate existing buildings, and provide modern health care facilities and equipment to our military veterans. As part of Project Acorn, all infrastructural including water, sewer, drainage, gas roads, parking, etc. at the Biloxi facility would be rehabilitated, relocated, upgraded or added. MP provide an existing conditions survey, demolition, plan site plan, roadway design, fire water system, sanitary sewer system, and drainage system to accommodate the new facilities. Project Acorn will consist of the construction of five new facilities: Mental Health Center, Blind Rehabilitation Center, Extended Care Facility, Clinical Addition, Parking Garage, and Laundry and Dietetics Facility.
